Strohm has been contracted to manufacture and deliver two Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP) Flowlines to Australia’s largest natural gas producer Woodside Energy Ltd.

Strohm has won a technology and innovation accolade for its thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) solution at the prestigious Pipeline Industries Guild Awards 2022.

In a first for the Americas region, ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration & Production Guyana Ltd (“EEPGL”) is set to install a subsea WAG jumper made from Strohm’s TCP on the Liza Phase 2 project in Guyana. This will be followed by a multi-jumper deployment campaign on EEPGL’s and its co-venturers’ Yellowtail project using the TCP market leader’s ‘Jumper on Demand’ procurement model.

Strohm has supplied Shell with a static Thermoplastic Composite (TCP) Riser to support operations at one of its Southern North Sea assets. The availability of TCP through Strohm’s “TCP on Demand” model and the ability to install end-fittings offshore enabled flexible, quick and easy installation.

Strohm, the world's first and leading manufacturer of fully bonded, Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP), has signed an agreement with PETRONAS technology commercialisation arm, PETRONAS Technology Ventures Sdn Bhd (PTVSB,) to commercialise TCP in the industry and scale its utilisation across PETRONAS facilities. 

DNV, Strohm, and the Non-Metallic Innovation Centre (NIC) have launched a report comparing the lifecycle carbon footprint of externally coated carbon steel pipe and thermoplastic composite pipes (TCP). The report shows that TCP has a significantly lower carbon footprint, in the range of 30-60%, than an equivalent carbon steel pipeline solution for the defined case study. 

As we expand our qualified product range we also qualify the latest inspection technologies. We have been working with our development partner Digital X-Ray Engineering Ltd. to deliver an automated, highly sensitive digital X-ray system for use on our Carbon Fibre based designs for both PA12 and PVDF full pipe cross section mapping. The system developed by this specialist UK inspection company has the highest levels of sensitivity to identify even the smallest anomalies in the pipe construction.

Strohm and Evonik have been awarded the full certification from DNV, attesting that the unidirectional Carbon Fibre PA12 tape “VESTAPE® PA12-CF” (PA12) used for Strohm’s Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP) is fit to use for dynamic sweet and sour hydrocarbons, water, and gas injection applications according to DNV-ST-F119.

It has been 8 weeks since Strohm implemented our COVID-19 working from home policy for all our offices worldwide and restricted work practices for our Production Facility in the Netherlands. I am proud to share that we have continued and are continuing the production of Strohm's TCP Flowlines and Jumpers for the various commitments we have with our clients, with zero impact to on time delivery and quality. 

In February 2020, several years of hard work paid off for the pioneers of TCP with the release of the first full carbon fibre based material qualification certificate that complies to the DNV GL ST-F119 TCP industry qualification standard.

Following the successful and on-time completion of the manufacturing and Factory Acceptance Test, we are proud to share some nice pictures of two TCP Flowlines on their way to our client, a supermajor in West Africa. 

We would like to congratulate Subsea 7 and IKM Testing for the successful completion of yet another pipeline pre-commissioning campaign offshore Norway. They use a 2.5 inch ID, 345 bar rated TCP Downline for pipeline pre-commissioning in about 1500 meter water depth. 

Strohm has been awarded a large contract from a supermajor through Oceaneering International Inc to supply Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP) flowlines for deployment in West Africa. It is believed to be the first TCP solution of this type utilised in the region and expected to save the operator up to 40% on total installation costs.

Strohm has secured a contract with Addax Petroleum which will see the firm delivering two gas lift jumpers in West Africa. This will result in its thermoplastic composite pipeline (TCP) products becoming a permanent application in the region for the first time.

Following Mark Stokes appointment, Strohm is also benefiting from its strongest ever order book and has recently adopted a 24-hour / 7-days-a-week shift pattern. As a result, the company is doubling its team of skilled manufacturing operators from 25 to 50, to deliver its project commitments to clients on schedule.

The appointment is part of the company’s continued investment strategy to increase productivity and capability at its Netherlands based plant in order to deliver larger quantities of TCP to its customers in both onshore and offshore applications. 

Strohm has secured a second award from Anasuria Operating Company Ltd (AOC) to deliver a 2nd high flow Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP) Jumper Spool in the Central North Sea. 

This Sunday (23rd June) marks International Women in Engineering Day. Energy Voice published our interview with Ines Mfarej Ep Nasri. Ines has worked at Strohm for almost five years. Ines is originally from Tunesia and plays a key role as the company’s controls engineer for industrial automation.

We have successfully completed the first TCP based on Carbon Fibre and the advanced PVDF polymer. Strohm announced it has been awarded with a contract from TOTAL to supply a TCP (Thermoplastic Composite Pipe) Jumper for a deepwater project in West Africa. The field is located approximately 150 km offshore in water depths of up to 1600 m.

Last week, we were very honored to be asked by Evonik to present at their Oil & Gas symposium in Houston, Texas. In front of some of the leading experts in polymers, we presented an overview of our latest TCP material grade Carbon Fiber / Polyamide 12.

An Asian operator recently completed the installation of the world’s first TCP Flowline for full well stream service. A huge achievement and marking a major milestone for Strohm, thermoplastic composite pipe and the industry at large.

In order to demonstrate the suitability of Thermoplastic Composite Pipe for static riser applications, Strohm successfully completed three tests specifically requested by a West African operator.

An important milestone was reached in October 2017 when a TCP Gas Lift Jumper was installed by Anasuria Operating Company (AOC) in the Guillemot field. This jumper, which was brought online one month later, marks the 3rd application for Strohm's TCP Jumpers in a short period of time.

Strohm and Marubeni-Itochu Steel Inc. have signed a worldwide distribution agreement for the promotion and sale of Thermoplastic Composite Pipe products. The two companies will cooperate to supply TCP Products to the global oil & gas industry in a time when composite pipe is establishing itself as a technically and commercially attractive alternative to steel and conventional flexible pipe.

Digimat Users’ Meeting is an annual event organised by e-Xstream engineering and will be held this year in Berlin, Germany. The conference will be all about “Predictable composites” and how one can use multi-scale material modelling to reduce cost associated with composite materials & structures while increasing performance. The conference program includes technical presentations from customers, Digimat experts and technological partners.

Strohm is very pleased to announce the contract award for the supply of a TCP Jumper to Anasuria Operating Company. The TCP Jumper will be installed subsea and used for gas lift. Deva Selva, Project Manager with Anasuria Operating Company, comments: "For this fast-track project we have considered various flexible jumper options. We have selected Strohms TCP Jumper mainly for its light weight, flexibility and reduced total cost compared to alternatives".

In flowline applications, especially in shallow water where tidal currents are strong and wave motions reach the seabed, flowlines require additional weight in order to ensure on-bottom stability (OBS). For light weight TCP this has been even more important, which prompted Strohm to develop an integrated weight coating.
