As the first and leading manufacturer of Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP), we have certified our products, design methods, our production and our materials. In addition, we have qualified our products in various client specific programs for major international operators, contractors and service companies. We have various supermajors as our clients.
As the industry leader in this field we initiated the creation of the standard which we follow today for all our products, the standard DNVGL ST-F119. In its core it is a design-based approach for qualifying TCP, leading to a qualified product at the lowest cost possible. It builds on a fundamental understanding of the design, materials and production of the TCP:
- Thorough understanding of the application, including all load cases, temperatures and fluids, both during installation and in service conditions
- Validated design methods, understanding and accurately predicting all the failure modes of the pipe and end-fittings
- Detailed material models based on material testing, showing the behaviour and strength of materials under the influence of time, temperature and fluids
- Proven and robust production, capable of producing continuous length, repeatedly
By combining a solid basis on a materials level with the certified design and production methods, the final product is qualified using a limited number of full scale tests; this minimises both the time and cost involved. The full scale testing is an integral part of the design approach and is used to validate both pipe performance and the design tools. Failure predictions are performed prior to the test and are required to be in line with the test results in order to corroborate the design assumptions. This means the TCP has a predictable behavior.
Beyond our qualifications under DNVGL, we are qualified by several major operators and contractors in accordance with other standards and client specific guidelines.
