Strohm to supply gas production jumpers for ultra-deepwater project in Southeast Asia

Thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) manufacturer Strohm has been awarded a medium sized* contract to supply four TCP jumpers for installation in an ultra-deepwater field in Southeast Asia.

The four 6.9 inch internal diameter carbon fibre PA12 jumpers, with an average length of 1000m each, will be installed in water depths exceeding 2,200m.

Procured and installed by McDermott’s Subsea and Floating Facilities business line, on behalf of a large international operator, the four TCP jumpers will be deployed using a vertical lay system. TCP is lightweight, spoolable and delivered in long lengths, allowing installation using proven methods, existing industry equipment and light or medium offshore construction vessels.

Strohm’s Vice President for Middle East & Asia-Pacific, Fabienne Ellington, said: "Our TCP is already in use around the world, with an established and growing track record in deepwater developments. This award strengthens our presence in Southeast Asia and positions us to support the next phase of deepwater energy development in this growing market.

“We are also pleased to continue our longstanding collaboration with McDermott, whose extensive installation experience with our pipe systems has delivered results across offshore developments worldwide.”

Strohm’s TCP solution is qualified for a 30-year design life. The pipeline technology is immune to fatigue and corrosion, providing operators with a robust, low-maintenance and low-carbon solution. The company introduced a 7-year warranty period for its products earlier this year.
