Tosca joined Strohm in 2020 as a production operator at a challenging time for the energy industry. With a background in food health and innovation, she started her career with dreams of becoming a product designer. However, the journey took an unexpected turn as she navigated a series of roles across various industries, ultimately finding her place at Strohm.
Her career began with an internship in a cookie factory, where she worked on every department of the company, to broaden her knowledge about the production process., before deciding to pursue a career in tourism. She commented: “I was always good with languages, so it felt like the right fit for me. I thought it would be an opportunity to use my skills and get to travel and explore the world, but I ended up being disqualified due to having tattoos so that didn’t really work out.”
She then returned to the cookie factory, where she stayed for a few years. During this period, she also travelled extensively across Thailand, The United States and various countries within Europe, using the stability of the factory job to finance her adventures. When the COVID-19 pandemic caused disruptions in the factory, she saw an opportunity to shift her career direction once again. “Strohm had a vacancy in production, and in just three days, I was hired”, she recalls. “It was intense, but it was the beginning of a new chapter and one of the best decisions I could have made.”
At Strohm, she started in production before a plant expansion led her to seek opportunities elsewhere in the company. She briefly worked in Testing but quickly discovered that the environment wasn’t the right fit, so she eventually moved to the warehouse, and eventually procurement. “I was always proactive in my approach to career growth; it was time for a change so I mentioned to my current manager that I would love to be part of the procurement team,” she says. “Six months later, I was given the opportunity I had been waiting for.” Her persistence and desire to grow within the company had paid off.
Today, she works as part of the procurement team, managing orders and ensuring supplies arrive on time. Her role includes coordinating with suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and that products are delivered to the right place at the right time. “It may not sound exciting, but it’s essential,” she says. Though she is quick to downplay her impact, it’s clear that her efforts are critical to Strohm’s daily operations, and her understanding of various departments has given her a holistic view of the company.
Tosca’s journey across Strohm’s different departments highlights not only her adaptability and determination, but also her belief in the importance of growth within a company. Looking to the future, she aspires to develop further within the company, with an eye on becoming a buyer. “I know I can do more,” she says confidently. “I don’t see myself leaving this company. It’s a great culture where colleagues support each other, and people can thrive. From the training I received early on, to the mentoring opportunities I’ve had across the various departments, Strom has shown me that sustainability isn’t just about materials—it’s about people, processes, and long-term career growth.”
In her free time, she enjoys painting, playing video games, and outdoor adventures with her new puppy. She shares her home with her fiancé, who also works for Strohm, along with their dog and four cats.
