Meet the Team: Swathini Sivakumar

23 June 2025

Swathini’s path into engineering wasn’t one she mapped out in advance, but rather one she discovered through curiosity and a drive to understand how things work from planning to installation. After completing a master’s degree in infrastructure engineering, she began her career at a global services company as a subsea installation engineer. “I was responsible for developing installation procedures for subsea structures and pipelines,” she explains. “This involved coordinating with multiple departments to ensure that project scopes were executed safely and efficiently, including providing offshore support and witnessing the installation activities on the vessel”.

After four years in the role, however, Swathini wanted a broader perspective. She was involved in offshore operations, but she felt drawn to understand what came before that stage and how pipes and structures were designed, manufactured, and prepared long before installation. That curiosity led her to Strohm in late 2023.

In her current role as a technical project engineer, she plays a central role in coordinating across all phases of project execution. From reviewing client specifications and ensuring compliance with international codes, to managing supplier relationships, facilitating design approvals and supporting pipe completion activities, Swathini’s work touches nearly every aspect of Strohm’s delivery process.

“One of the things I value most in my current role is the ongoing collaboration across departments,” she says. “My role isn’t limited to desk work; I’m working closely with production teams, composites engineers, and suppliers, making sure we’re aligned at every step.”

Swathini also highlights the collaborative culture at Strohm. “There's a strong culture of collaboration here. Colleagues are always willing to offer support, even amidst demanding schedules. That kind of teamwork makes a meaningful difference, especially when working across disciplines.”

Outside of work, she enjoys quiet weekends with her husband (who also works at Strohm) exploring new destinations and planning future trips across Europe to experience different cultures and build lasting memories.

Looking ahead, Swathini is focused on continuing to grow her expertise across the full lifecycle of Strohm’s thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) products, especially as the company expands further into hydrogen and carbon capture technologies. “It’s exciting to be part of a business that’s innovating within the energy transition,” she says. “There are always more things to learn and diff
