Bernhard Schmidt was appointed Chairman of Strohm in January 2019, where he has been part of the Supervisory Board for a number of years. He is also Chairman of Petroleum Equity, an alternative investment firm focused on the upstream oil & gas industry outside North America. Petroleum Equity was founded in 2012 addressing the significant shortage of private equity capital focused in this industry and area.
Bernhard has enjoyed an international career in upstream and industry at Shell and Honeywell in Europe and Asia. Returning to Europe, Bernhard joined the executive board of Wintershall, where he was in charge for all global business development, exploration, acquisitions, start-up ventures and large projects.
Bernhard graduated as petroleum engineer from Montanuniversität Leoben and in addition gained an MBA from INSEAD.
